Has anyone tried the wet/color sanding with the Hutchins d/ a sander with water pick up ,with 1500/2000 paper, then finish off with the Perfefect It , Finesse It products, removes the oxidation that has accumulated over the years, buff on protective wax after that process

I remember doing that process well, my new spencer has f/g shaft alleys/logs that go all the way back to and become an intergal part of the strut, creating a faired environment to minimize water/air turbulence to keep clean water coming aft of the transom

The hull glass is now 40-50 years old, the chemistry has cured! Sand with a DA with 80 grit, spray or roll on a coat o 545 ,spray a mist coat of black lacquer primer, long board sand with 220, re apply 545' , block out with a large foam block with 320 , do your final color application

Awlgrip should only be rolled and tipped, if u spray it’s called awldrip, spray with awlcfraft 2000but test to make sure all products u try are compatible with the old finishes, the awlgrip manual is quite informative

I actually just did the same on my 42' with 2 new garmins, side by side, 545 and awlcraft 2000. You will find pvc dents easily in the handling/processing prior the painting, I've switched to a polyurethane spot filler that goes off quickly, no more red bondo spot filler
