I also love the stuff. Just saying what they stated. Like aI said, I was suprised by what they found. I think the flaw in their study is that they sprayed it on and then stuck it in the water, rather than letting it sit for a day or so. No one says they are perfiect. Its like consumer reports, if we...

corrosion X & Power Boat Reports
This months issue of Power Boat Reports did a comparison of rust inhibitors. It ranked Corrision X and Corrosion X HD against a field of others. They gave it poor marks for salt water and rated the CRC and the West Marine product higher. I was very suprised at the out come. I would have thought it w...

Mike As John says, it can be done. Years ago I had a friend that did it every weekend with his girl friend and her son on a 31. Remember, the Marina becomes your back yard with hopefully shower facilities, and the boat is your hotel room. Plus the added bonus is that you can fish it. Hey when I was ...

Capt. Pat: Funny thing about boats, especially our 31's, they have been creating extended families for years. We got ours in 1975, and from the day we stepped on her, everyone we ever met with a 31 always had open arms for another 31 owner. Who would of thought it would have all led to this. I start...

There is one question I have on the performance of these drives that I have not seen in any articles about them. I know we all have our thoughts on them good and bad. But in all of the articles, no one has said how the boat performance changes in heavy weather. We know that at times in rough seas th...

I was talking with Richard down in AC this past summer. I think he and High Tide got together on that tank. I know it took him a while to put it together. In July he told me he would have it by October, but I think just recently got it done. The other option is Stainless, some of the guys have gone ...

Hey guys, this is getting pretty heavy. We need to bring back the rocker stoppers. Besides, think about this, the majority of ice that covers the polar caps are in water. Doesn't ice displace its own weight in water with about 90% of the ice below the water? So if that is the case and all the ice in...

Kevin My experience it was the packing. If you have to pull it to do it then check everything. If you can do it without pulling the boat try the packing first, its the cheapest way out. Then if it leaks go from there. As you know it could be any one of the things we all mention. I don't think corros...

Harv You need to do what is right for you. I agree with Bruce on rebuilts. My father was a great mechanic, but as good as he was, he always felt rebuilding a marine engine was questionable. He always said, even fresh water cooled engines, you never know if at some point they had sea water in the oil...

I check on the rebuilt cummins and they said that would be around 20,000 a piece with transmissions. By the time you get done doing everything you have to do even with gas,...

Ok one more time to my scale theory. If we follow Bruce's logic which actually makes the most sense, that can be proven using the scale since the amount of pull exerted at the greater depth from trying to lift all that water in the column would great a greater amount of pull on the scale. The weight...

Ok after reading all the theory's I have a question. I understand drag is drag and water weight is water weight. But if we lowered a rocker stopper down 5 feet and used a scale to somehow measure the pull at that depth, then tried it at 30 feet, it would stand to reason the scale should show two dif...

See if you the yard has anyone that will use baking soda instead of sand. They say that the baking soda can be controlled so the barrier coat doesn't come off. How long does the barrior coat last, well to give you an idea, we put 5 coats on in 1986 and it is still going strong. Tony Meola
