Greetings Nigel and welcome aboard; you came to the right place for your questions. I owned Island Girl, a Bertram 31, and I had it re-powered with the same Yanmar 6LP-STE 315 HP engines. I maintained it "by the book" and had flawless service through my 10 year ownership. The Yanmars are fast (28 kt...

Re: Cutlass Bearing Question
Steve, sadly I struck a sea turtle while running from FL to N.C., so that may be the culprit. Turtle shell remnants will have an organic odor, so give it the sniff test. I believe if it’s fiberglass you would be able to see some glass strands with a magnifying glass.

Since John has owned 4 B-25s, he and other 25 owners are your best resource for information. Big Marlin caught from Best Boat Ever
A group of anglers on Sunday reeled in one of the largest blue marlin ever caught off Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, after a marathon struggle that did not end with the billfish alongside the 31-foot boat. Four hours into a fight that sapped the strength of four novice fishermen who had already battled sev...

Yannis, according to the old spec books, the B-28 out the door weighs 11,320 # for the SF model and 12,060 # for the FBC model. On one of the spec sheets I found, the B-31 SF and FBC are recorded as 10,600 #. I'm thinking the weight difference is a result of Bertram providing more creature comforts ...
