Re: New B31 project in Europe

Still calling BS on trim tabs hurting the ride

Chimera was Oregon and Hatteras Inlet tested, to many trips in the wrong weather at 115 miles to home and never stuffed the bow.

And on more then one occasion trim tabs made a b31 run better.

I don't believe I have any pics of the old boats fish boxes. At least none of them empty.

After building a few boxes on the new project I'd go fiberglass drop in. The stainless worked great but was fairly heavy.

Re: B38 might be a good deal?

I see this quite often as well. Bertram was famous for it before they went out of business. Would build a boat to fish Florida waters with minimal fuel and wonder why it wouldn't sell in the northeast. 12 hours of cruise time is the amount of daylight you have in the spring to come home from Florida...

Re: B38 might be a good deal?

With the Ms your looking at 40+ gallons per hour total burn. With a 12 hour minimum cruise time for a traveling boat your looking at 480 gallons of fuel on the light side. What's the plan for fuel, water, waste. It's an aggressive plan the Ms are a tight fit in a 45 Viking.

Good luck

Nostalgic Unique for sure. Thoughts and questions: Look at carbon fiber riggers, the bases will thank you, especially if traveling at speed with poles extended ( all the cool kids use them) Rag top on a speed boat? How does the cockpit drain? Central sump? Which ducer did you pick with the bsm2?

1988 6v92's made 565 hp. It stands to reason if you bolted two of them together as a 12v92 it would make over 1000 hp The 12v71 was a lower hp engine but should be around 820 based on its sub components Only thing better sounding than a 12V92 at cruise speed. As a matter of safety do not use the gear cooler. It's the first thing that clogs in the cooling system. Use the secondary pipe plug on the raw water pump. Install a crossover as well so both logs maintain cooling even if one engine is shut down. Do not use the gear cooler.

If you love your cat put a collar on it. Better yet keep it on your property. I do know that if it were a dog roaming from yard to yard someone would call the cops and the owner would eventually get a summons. And yes Nav they were cats in the boats, in the late 70's this marina was overrun with them.
