Re: TURBOS for Yanmar 240

Yannis, good ear on the Canadian French, I don’t know for sure but I’m guessing that’s kind of what it is. I’m pretty sure the original Cajuns immigrated from Canada to southern Louisiana many years ago. Carl, sounds like we took the same path. Exclusive hard rocker to liking just about any music. T...

Shannon, I assume John carried extra fuel when he made the long runs. I’ll ask him next time I see him. He had Yanmars and I believe his Bahia Mar was intentionally lightened up for that purpose. S Ritzert, Here are a couple links to the Reel Cowboy showing the spray rails back when John had it. I never felt they detracted from the look of the boat too much. John would go 30-100 miles out on the regular and had the boat for around 20 years. He doesn’t check in here anymore as he sold the boa...

Re: Yanmar 4LH 160/170 in B26 or B28

Carl, Joel had asked about both the 26 and 28 so I think all the answers benefitted him. I have always wondered how well 170s would work in one of the smaller Bertrams. It would be interesting if Joef goes that route. The reason I came across this site (24 years ago - yikes!) was that I had bought a...

It just dawned on me the B26 is straight inboard vs UVs sterndrive B25. A little additional engine weight might be insignificant where those engines set.

Re: Yanmar 4LH 160/170 in B26 or B28

The other thing to think about is the B26 should be considerably lighter overall than the B28. Maybe the 170s would be adequate for a B26 if there is room to swing a big enough prop that you might need for the diesels. Also I don’t know about the weight difference between the Yanmar 170 and the gas ...

Yep. I understand the reason for the old boat issue. And many did. Just hurts the folks that actually have a go...

Guys, I figured I’d update this with a little learning I had with this prospective purchase. The TLDR version - I didn’t get it done. Inability to insure in South Florida killed the deal.
