I live on the water in Tampa Bay - we evacuated when it looked like it was headed just north of the area - worse case scenario for us at that would have pumped water into Tampa Bay. They are expensive - but I went with two of the ODYSSEY 31-PC2150S Heavy Duty batteries. In Florida the heat kills the batteries and I have had good luck with the Odysseys - typically getting twice the lifetime out of them, even the Sams AGM Marine Duracell (if you can find them)

No No - the batteries - the 8D's are of an undetermined age. When I bought the boat in February the onboard charger took a poop. So just wanted top replace that. I sent the yard a charger to install - the charger had a tag on it that said it didn't work on 8D's or 4D's. SO my first course was findin...

Yeah thanks - I am going with a couple of Odyssey group size 31 batteries. I have had good luck with them in the past. Appreciate the response - Maybe now is the time to replace the 8D's while it's in the yard. The prospects of having to change those out later is a little intimidating. Apparently the charger has to have an amperage that's 10% of the CCA or it will not charge - especially if the battery is completely...

Now that is how you instantly ruin your credit, a loan on a 40 year old boat in to which you will be dumping a ton of money. Not sure I understand that. If you don't pay it back then yes. BTW - go get on a plane and check it out - I went to Jupiter FL - I went to NC and I went to New Orleans before I pulled the trigger. An under 20K boat is a rarity - especially one that doesn't have a whole in the side. $17 K is small money to get into a Bertram 31 that floats. Just my opinion.

From the pictures it looks pretty rough - but for 19,000 it is what it is. It has gassers - which for the most part you can get parts from your local NAPA store. I would think that $19K is probably the bottom of the bell curve for what you would pay for a B31 that floats and that has engines in it (...
