Add a diesel bunk heater. I have the D2. In fact, I have one in my camper and another on the boat.

Bertram31.Com is under attack

Folks, Over the last couple of months, the website has been inundated with membership requests from bad actors. Most of the requests are easy for me to spot and I just delete them. Occasionally, one will be slightly more clever and manage to get through. I ban them as quickly as I can and delete the...

No special operators license needed (in the US). Just don't use those frequencies unless you're an airplane or having an emergency.

Re: Replacement VHF

If you're off shore and find yourself in the water, it's also not a terrible idea to carry a handheld that can tune to frequencies used by aircraft. If you're anywhere near an airport and you keep the local approach and departure frequencies stored in the radio, you'll have a pretty good chance of b...

Judging by 1. how fast it happened 2. that one engine died and 3. the fact that it took them by surprise, I'd guess that hard backing down caused an exhaust hose connection to come undone....right after it hydrolocked the engine.

Two of those black stripes are seams which are screwed down to the stringers and then covered with Lifecaulk and sanded flush. So obviously they'll line up with the appropriate stringers. Probably the ones just on either side of the fuel tank. You need to dig out the black caulk and disassemble. Pro...

I believe that a number of us got a ride on a 51 with the stabilizer at the boat show a few years ago. Spectacular ride. Re: Diesel Return Lines

I believe that you should have a separate return for each engine.

Your genset might need a fuel pump (or maybe not). Remember not to pump fuel though a filter. Always use suction to pass fuel through a filter. Pumping tends to emulsify fuel and water, making the separator less efficient.

Because...... you sucked a plastic bag into one and it's clogged? You're better off going under the boat and clearing it. Unless you up-size both intakes, you won't get enough flow through one to cool both engines. If that's what you're thinking, you can achieve more flow from one 2.5" hose than thr...
