It seems that the temp sending unit and/or gauge is bad. Once I washed the heat exchanger w/muriatic, I fired her up & headed out. It went right up to 200 degrees and beyond. That's some good info...thanks!! The raw water intake hose has a frayed end, it's in crappy shape. I had no idea air needed to be bled from the cooling system!! (ahem). I didn't see any steam at cruise from exhaust; there seemed to be a good flow of water, and it was lukewarm. Also.....pump cam? fin...

the impeller came out in one piece, I have a laser gun (which I have not yet used to check with), and the pencil zincs were in one piece. The intake drew water freely in my yard before launching. The thermostats are 180 degree u nits, as per factory........wtf!!!!

I know these engines run on the hot side for diesels. Under load (steaming) she got up to 195 running her around to Old Harbor from New Harbor (B.I.). She ran at 180 last year. Bruce: I have a single engine 26' boat w/12'beam and full tower. She idles at 4 1/2 knots. Need to slow her down to 3 or less for Striped Bass trolling. I'll try to get a photo of the gear.......I'm busy as a one-legged kickboxer!!!!!!!

There's no "nameplate" on the gear...the engine is rated for 320 bhp. Any ideas on what trolling valve to get, who to get it from, and, most important, how to tell which gear I have?????? :)

I'll be priming the new windshield and engine box today. We've been rewiring the boat, and are getting slightly confused. I have not been able to find a 3208 service manual (for less than $200, that is) which shows a wiring schematic. Any ideas? Just need to know where the gauge wires originate........

I've had a Dodge 3/4 ton diesel, and I've had a Ford 3/4 ton diesel. The Dodge looks much better. But the 325 hp ford? Yahoooo! That sucker would smoke the tires all the way down the block......stock. 20 mpg on the highway in a 7300 lb truck? nice.
But the Dodges do look sweet...... :)

I would agree BUT for the engine only turning 2500 w/ a much smaller wheel on the boat. It now revs up much faster, but only to 2500. Smaller wheel, more revs, right?

I will be interested to see the no load revs. Will do it as soon as the monsoon is over. :)
