Mase Generator Reccomendation

I am looking at at buying a used, 4kw Mase generator. I'm concerned with the 3600 rpm speed. Does anyone have experience with Mase??

Thanks

Thanks for the quick advice. I'm thinking that not spraying in the sun makes good sense. The reducer may be flashing off before the paint blends (at 90 deg ambient, I have to be on the upper end of the temperature limits). I won't have time to try it again until weekend after next week...

Help spraying Imron

I've been practicing spraying Imron and can't get a smooth finish. Unless I drench the surface to the point of sagging, the finish is "pebbled." I am using high temp reducer (in specified ammounts) and have varried the pressure in my HVLP gun from 20 to 30 psig, varried my spray pattern, paint/air r...

Venice Marina over Cypress Cove. Ditto on the ass holes at CC (or rather -- the assholes at Venice are not as bad). A lot of tuna are being caught on slow trolled live mullet so bring your cast net. Good chance of catching all the bait you need along the banks of the marina. Have also caught big pog...

Any experience using PPG PSX 700? It comes highly reccomended by our Ameron/PPG rep at work -- and I can get it at a discount. He claims better gloss retention than polyurethanes.

I fiberglassed a 1" high lip across the edge of the deck (where your arrow is pointing). it runs from the side of the engine box, all the way to side of the hull. The only water that sneaks in would drip outside the engine bed, and into the bilge.

I used Aero Marine epoxy and did not like it. It was quite viscous and very difficult to wet fiberglass properly. I had to soak it in a warm water bath to drop the vis. I experimented with walnut shells before I went with soda. Harbor Freight sometime has bags on sale. They stripped the paint well. I think that the glass beads would be harsher and leave an anchor pattern. Dust may be an issue for you depending on where you are doing the work.

Flybridge Grabrail Removal

How is the grabrail on the horizontal section of the bridge (above the windows -- stb, fwd, and port) removed? The bolts seem to have backing nuts, but I don't see access to them. I don't want to take it off (for painting) if I can't put it back together.

Thanks!

Also -- use the wax additive if the surface gelcoated is exposed to air. Avoid letting it cure in direct sunlite if possible. Both could lead to a tacky surface. I found using a little extra MEKP for a faster batch is better.

Last questions -- maybe.
1) Once I've sanded the hull to paper thin gelcoat, do I need to seal it with 100% solids epoxy followed by Interlux 2000/2001, or can I use Interlux 2000/2001 only?
2) Same question if I have exposed fiberglass fibers.

There seems to be 2 schools of thought.
