I am looking at at buying a used, 4kw Mase generator. I'm concerned with the 3600 rpm speed. Does anyone have experience with Mase??
Thanks

Help spraying Imron
I've been practicing spraying Imron and can't get a smooth finish. Unless I drench the surface to the point of sagging, the finish is "pebbled." I am using high temp reducer (in specified ammounts) and have varried the pressure in my HVLP gun from 20 to 30 psig, varried my spray pattern, paint/air r...

Imron MS600
I went to the paint store to by some Imron 5000 and got talked into buying Imron MS600. Has anyone used the MS600 or heared anything about the performance? I'm hoping not to be the guinea pig here.

The kids are walking around in a daze -- I think they are coming down from a Christmas present high... The boat's still in the drive way! Everything takes longer than expected and time to work on her is limited. However, I do see the light. (I've come a long way from Mike's pic). All fiberglass is c...

Venice Marina over Cypress Cove. Ditto on the ass holes at CC (or rather -- the assholes at Venice are not as bad). A lot of tuna are being caught on slow trolled live mullet so bring your cast net. Good chance of catching all the bait you need along the banks of the marina. Have also caught big pog...

PPG PSX 700 - Siloxane Paint
Any experience using PPG PSX 700? It comes highly reccomended by our Ameron/PPG rep at work -- and I can get it at a discount. He claims better gloss retention than polyurethanes.
Thanks

I used 4" and 6" hook and loop backing pad on my side grinder from these guys. Worked good (and fast) for fist pass sanding, but throws a lot of dust. Cheap too. A lower speed tool may be better.

I used Aero Marine epoxy and did not like it. It was quite viscous and very difficult to wet fiberglass properly. I had to soak it in a warm water bath to drop the vis. After a couple of months, the container of resin phase separated (solids dropped out?) and I had to toss it. I have been using low ...

I have finished the fiberglass repairs (from the Katrina damage, but have to work on the osmotic blisters that I discovered afte...

I took two square pieces of 1/2" HDPE and drilled a hole thru both a thousandth or so smaller than the rudder shaft ID. I mounted them on the top and bottom of the rudder shelf, filling the void with grease. The rudder is supported with a big stainless washer and shaft collar. It's been installed fo...

Removing the ceiling in the cabin gives me access to the grabrail on the vertical section. I removed a light fixture and can reach 1 back-up nut on the horizontal rail. I never relized this before, but the bridge is made in 2 sections. They must have assembled the grabrail prior to putting the 2 sec...

Flybridge Grabrail Removal
How is the grabrail on the horizontal section of the bridge (above the windows -- stb, fwd, and port) removed? The bolts seem to have backing nuts, but I don't see access to them. I don't want to take it off (for painting) if I can't put it back together.
Thanks!

Did I mention that I killed the $&@* out of my neighbor's lawn? I looked at fine sand but to much dust for neighborhood blasting. The whole process took about 6 hours. I think I've got it. I had the same symptoms with both engines -- about a year apart. There is an inconspicuous ball check on the fuel pump outlet -- where the fuel return line ties in. It looks like a 1" long hex fitting. The valve holds slight back pressure on the pump and keeps fuel from draining...

Thanks for the advice. I found a cheaper type gelcoat remover -- called "Marineshaver -- about $600. I'm going to wait to see if it is absolutly necessary after I soda blast the bottom.
