Thanks Carl for the heads up on Lock n stitch. May be a good application since no cooing passages to deal with. I will do some more research. Also-- It is a fairly easy area to get to. Brings jerry rigging to a whole new level!

I learned my lesson when I bought a $19 o-ring from Cummins. I took it to Motion Industries to see if they could match it. I told them how much I paid and they started laughing and threw a handful at me -- 14 cents a piece

I used to have Detroit 453's and thought the same thing -- if I could just get over the hump I would plane out and get moving. Added tabs and no change in speed. I do like them -- nosing down in a chop and leveling the load etc. and I think they are worth the money for that reason. But not for speed.

You may have already figured out a solution, but I used "window edge seal" from McMaster Carr. Had it on for about 1 year -- holding up good. Ran a thin bead of RTV on it before installing. My guess is it will last several years before needing replacement...

Good point on the shipping... I have 300 HP Cummins, 1-1/2" shafts, 22 x 22 4-blade props. I'm guessing I could have planed on one engine, but the smoke was terrible at 1500 rpm so I did not push it further. No smoke on your boat with one engine? The net works great. Pelicans are still stacked up on the dock behind my boat but no birds on the boat. Two people can install it in about 3 minutes. The net has been on the boat for over a month and no pooh pooh! Thanks Tony.

The tarp I have draped over the back of the boat is keeping them off, but cant possibly last thru a windstorm -- acts like a giant sail and it is likely to pool water. And it was a pain to install. But netting -- great idea. No wind issue, no pooling water, and light weight. We have a winner! Thanks...

As far as the "falcon speakers," I talked to a guy that is trying it on his boat. He said he saw two pelicans fu#*ing on it last night. I put a big ugly tarp on the back of the boat today. I'll see how long that lasts. On a good note, purple driveway cleaner worked good on the deck...
