I agree that visibility when on plane is very poor, but again, the lower helm will probably mostly be used when cruising at displacement speed in inclement weather or maybe late fall trolling. I am going to go for it as I feel the space now is wasted anyways.

I did just that, bought 6BT RTO's. I had an engine surveyor go check them out for me as best he could on a pallet. Not all that much to check, aside from start-up and go through the list Frank mentioned. I was told two things to check for by some friends who are diesel mechanics...they should start...

Jason, I noticed in the cockpit where you recored the gunnels and in the v-birth you laid a fillet along the hull deck joint. Have you given any though to how to access the screws/bolts for the rub rail? Or have you already replaced your rub rail?

I am not a fan of electric fuel pumps. I am sure they are great and necessary for EFI etc... I use a mechanical fuel pump on my 454 (automotive application). I just reconnected the chokes on both motors to fix a hard starting problem. They are the old mechanical coil spring-type chokes. I don't know how they could close after the engine warms up, but I am going to wire them open and run the boat today nonetheless.
