Following up on Bruce's post, you just have to look to Bertram's revival of the 31 with their new 35'. I've looked at them and they are very nice boats but they are trying to cram too much into a 35' boat, IMO. I don't think by any measure they are setting the market on fire.

Depends on what your use is. If its shallow water and detail is not an issue then they are fine. Depth sounders its a ideal use. If fish finding is your game then I wouldn't recommend a shoot thru unit.

I like pocket mount preferably (I have a Airmar 3 KW 599 unit in a pocket on the keel).

If your boat does not have a galvanic isolator installed then install one. The are a couple of hundred bucks or less. Most of these issues are caused by stray AC current.

My guess is that you'll be OK. I have the QSB 5.9 380s. My hull is extra stiff due to the way I rebuilt the boat so I suspect flex is not going to be an issue for me.

Bruce mentioned a very important part which is to recheck your alignment after the boat has been in the water.

I'm in the process of installing mine today. I have 2.5" x 1/4" thickness. My shafts are 1 1/2".

There is a reason that the Bertram brand failed in the market. They did not keep up with what the market demanded. Rick On the Port engine, are you running the exhaust down the shaft alley or are you going up and over and going down the outside stringer? The port exhaust will be run down the outside stringer. Its a bit of a contortionist act to get the exhaust over there while keeping the water out of the turbo...

They are all electronic. The are QSB 5.9 380 HP. I'm using a Glenndinning control system with them.

In the QSB engines you have 330, 380 and 425 hp all with just a change of the ECM. Same engine, same weight.

Thanks Rick, I see the piano hinge on top of the port backrest, I also see the convex fwd twist on the seating surface so that id doesn't slide open probably. Progress update. we are working on the final section of the cockpit floor and engine boxes. Hopefully by the end of the week they'll be complete. We plan on setting engines this week, If I can get final paint in the engine boxes in the next day or two. Also we are working on installing a spray rail....
