Mine is like that too. I would not be concerned if I were you. I said the same thing to my glass guy. His answer was an inboard boat does not need the thick transom like a outboard boat. Mine has platform, and when all points are secured, ie the braces, it is actually rather strong, but will still f...

Cool. Heard a lot of good ideas here. Most interesting being the exact number of beers fitting in the reefer. I can drink whatever I want when I am at the house, and then for efficiancy reasons I can drink coors light on the boat. Maybe instead of asking the wife what she wants I can just suggest th...

Reefer survey
No, not that reefer. How many of you guys use your AC/DC refridgerators? Are they worth the space they take up? Upon close inspection of mine I have realized it is getting shorter. That meaning, the rust on the bottom is slowly flaking onto the floor and under what used to be the counter top. I look...

I have night vision goggles but do not count on them spot trap buoys unless conditions are perfect. One anchor light on in your line of vision and they are useless. Not sure about the IR goggles. I have found that I can see the most when I dim the radar to least amount and black out the GPS, granted...

Thudddddddddd, What materials are you using for the re-build. I found this stuff that looks like card board laminated with mica. 2x2 foot section weighed only ounces and I could stand on it. I am still waiting on the the name of the product from a friend. I am probably going to use it in my boat unl...

You could try Danny at HighTide Marine. He has a lot of that stuff. Be prepared to sell at least one valve out of your heart though. Vintage parts like that are pricey. Good luck. They will tell you, two to the body, one to the head. Just remember the T-box, it will cancel christmas every time. Did ...

How often would it be tolerable.....hmmmm. I never turn down a race, especially if it is a Pheonix or another similar looking boat. I can put a TV on the boat, that covers the sports. I believe I can put a lot of beer on the boat, that covers the drinkin. They don't call it a stabbin cabin for nuthi...

Dave, I have the MO236K43. I can explain that. MO stands for motor. The 23 in 236 stands for maximum power potential of the rotating assembly/fuel pump. The 6 in 236 stands for 6 cylinders. K is the type of turbo, it is a KKK turbo which is water cooled, runs the same temp as the rest of the motor. ...

Well, this is very preliminary, but what the heck. went for and overnighter this past weekend. Ran about 24 to 25 miles round trip. Started the trip with full tank. Filled the boat today and she took 13 gallons. That would put me close to 2 nmpg. I am still putting it to the pins on occasion and not...

I have a performance question. After reading your posts I wonder. I have bigger rudders than the stock 28 rudders. I noticed the leading edge is quite wide and blunt. Will that have negative affect on performance? I thought about grinding them to reduce turbulence from the prop but never got around ...

I have Bennetts too. I have never used them since they are not hooked up yet. Size is roughly 9 x18, but not positive. Just wanted to get some suggestions on propping. Right now my 28 cruises right around 22-23kts. at 3300-3400rpm. WOT is about 27 kts. Engines are rated at 4300rpm. Port engine is hitting 4300 while the the starboard is at 4050. The props are 17x15. I have tried 6 different sets of props on my work b...

That is why I partitioned mine. With exception of the AC condensation dripping into forward bilge, it stays pretty dry. Prior to partition and the re-power all the water went all the way forward. In my case it was nasty oily water. Now, the water sits between the engines. It can still get forward if...

Saw a 31 for sale in a magazine the other day. Think the name was Reel nice. Claimed a 40 mph cruise speed with 0ver 400 hp per side I think. I know my 28 feels faster than the 23kts I cruise at but a 35 kt cruise for that style boat seems crazy. Anyone seen this boat? What is the most power ever ja...
