If it continues, pressure test with a radiator pressure test kit before you tear it down. You can rent them from O'Rielys or other parts stores.

I wonder if the worst pits could be drilled and TIG welded back up? Carl what do you think? I know cast aluminum can be a bear a to weld, but I have had cracked final drive housings on tractors welded, and they had been filled with oil. A good welder can do it fairly easily, maybe.

I agree that it may not be great for running the boat at speed, but I still find it useful while fishing or when it is raining or otherwise miserable it is better than nothing! If you have trim tabs the boat can be run from downstairs at certain speeds depending on the sea state, visibility, etc. It...

Carl: Use Yannis's mold and heat the lexan with an overhead radiant heater made using stove heating elements. Hang the heating unit overhead on pulleys so you can raise and lower it. Use three elements and lower the heat on the two outside ones as the plastic bends into the mold. Just a crazy though...

Sand flows like water up and down the shore. Problem is when you put up a groin one side builds up and the other side gets starved.

I would say a cradle built with plywood stations to support it every few feet. My 1961 31 came with cradle plans.

Yes, Walter was a gem. I got to fish with him at Tropic Star on the first trip down there. A true gentleman. And Pat and UV! it still brings a tear to my eye to think of them gone!

I was trying my Henckel steak knives last night at 16.5%. I tried 15 but scraped the vice because the knives are so narrow. On a Chef's knife it should be fine. I didn't want to have to go to the small knife table with them as I have a block of 8 to do. Unfortunately my wife has taken to using them ...

And I might add I sharpen the EDC at a 27° bevel so to get it to cut like that's pretty good.

I found time this morning to put a nice edge on my cheap Kershaw EDC. It will now slice through pages out of this months boat us magazine! Best use for that magazine I found! I look forward to moving on to bigger and better knives! I will let you know how things progress.

It is an idea I have considered before. I think you might be safer cutting slots in the overhead and epoxying wood strips directly to the bottom side of the deck. Try a fairly fine circular wire brush on a 4.5" grinder ad see if it won't help blend out the gouges to get the color even down in the valleys. You can always re-sand the high spots if need be. Mine was set up from the factory with the key switches under the overhang of the dash and the rubber push buttons on top of the dash. Seems to work fine. The down stairs station has them up on the dash.
