Brewster- Dinaz and I send you and your family our sincerest sympathies. Having lost my first wife, sister and now praying that Dinaz has beaten that dreaded disease, I know a bit of what you and your family have gone through. It looks like she lived a full life when she was well, and her admonition...

I like to think all of us who love the water are environmentalists. We have seen more and experienced more than any of these whackos who should be dipped in chum (pure environmental material) and dropped overboard in waters that might contain some environmentally protected species of shark. In about...

Tom- I would be interested in the responses, but remember, the Cummins B series were born of their success as a Dodge truck engine. Also, although the high hp/weight ratios on some of these engines sounds good (and they are), a heavier weight seems to have a positive influence on how our B-31's ride.

John- Having a B-20 Bahia Mar, I have found having a lockable storage area for often used rods and lure boxes, etc. a distinct advantage. What I DID find a pain in the ass was getting to the bow cleat to tie and untie the boat. If you reach it from the cockpit, fine. If not, move it back till you ca...

He was NOT a nice man. What he did was monumental with not one iota of concern about who he hurt along the way. I, like you don't know what to think of him, just like I don't know what to think of Carl Fischer who did Miami Beach with not one environmental concern. If it were not for the Depression,...

To a point where it's scary. Yet we can release a spy drone over unfriendly territory with the latest in technology/computerization, made with super secret stealth materials and cameras with the capacity to pick out an individual from thousands of feet, with no self destruct capability if it were to...

I put Cummins 210's in back in 90 when my Chrysler 440's had to be replaced. Strangely, back then Chrysler would not honor it's warranty on the new engines unless I enlarged my exhaust/muffler system. It had also changed it's exhaust manifolds which would necessitate changes in my engine boxes. When...

I don't know how many hours you had on your 250 Etecs and/or your satisfaction with them, but based on what I saw at Port Eads, I know you and your team fish hard. The serviceable hours vs costs and loss of time when you're out of commission with these big 4-strokes would make me think twice about t...

There has been a lot of talk and attempts to solve space and capacity problems with the "standard" tanks that are available. I have a B-20 Bahia Mar I went through that with, and after all was said and done, it was easier, cheaper and safer to pull the tank and use it for measurements for an aluminu...

That looks great. Forgive my dumb questions. Does the unit track your position and route (dotted line)? Can you store waypoints? In one of the pictures there was a mounting bracket. Is that an apple accessory? When you buy a Navionics app, does it cover everywhere or do you have to purchase a specif...

Let me get this straight: You guys used the new Apple Ipad as your GPS backup? With the Navionics app it becomes a chartplotter? No antenna necessary. There is a marine mount (as per that picture) that is available? From Apple or West Marine? Is there a 12 V power plug in on the Ipad? If all this is...

Randall- I certainly can't explain it, but there has to be something in the idea of cycles. 15 years ago I couldn't drive up Springy Banks Road at night without seeing the eyes of at least 3-4 pairs of Foxes. They'd trot across my cul-de-sac in broad daylight to the point I'd worry about my cat gett...

We had a long very cold Winter, no Spring, a fairly comfortable Summer and an exceptionally long and warmish Fall. Hope to God the Winter isn't as brutal as the last one. Some places in our Northeast got hit with a snowstorm in October which is very unusual. Last one was 72 years ago. One thing is f...

It's that time again and I make the same offer as I did last year. If any of the Bretheren purchase one of The Captain's Cookbooks at $24.95 plus postage, I will donate $10 per book to the site.
