Use metal like 1/4 aluminum if possible. Those cleats will have a lot of tension appliled during a wind storm.

Walter K It's great that you and the rest are alright and the boats fared well too. The hype is always there and if nothing else, it made everyone more responsive to the storm and most prepared well for it. We are just thankful that the hype didn't come totally true and we should not let our guard d...

Ted_R I used the hole from the siphon tube and took a 6 foot chain with a steel hook on it and hooked it down into the hole, then attached the other end to my lift and lifted until the boat was about to come off the water. Taggteam, It's not a real big job. I rebuilt both bulkheads in a day. It was a long day and I used 3/4 inch starboard. If I had it to do over again, I would use a good grade of 1/2 inch plywood and once it was cut and sized, I would coat it generously with diluted epoxy so it would penetrate, then I...

My old bulkheads were 3/4 and rotted badly. Mine is a 1983 and there was a close tolerance between the engine hatches and the bulkhead. So the 1/2 plywood and the two laminamts would have equalled the 3/4 inch. I kick my self frequently for not going that route, but for now the Starboard is doing th...

RAWickland, I used 3/4 Starboard for my bulkheads. I'd like to go back and start over again, but this time use 1/2 plywood and once all the cutouts and the shaping is done, drench it in diluted epoxy. then I would laminate with epoxy 1/8th inch formica on both sides. I still might do that someday. I...
