Sean, That is a sharp installation for sure. What makes it look especially good is that the bronze fittings are nice and clean. My raw water filters don't look near that clean and shiny sitting in my clean, white bilge. I've tried everything except pulling them out and sand blasting them to get them...

Kevin, I ran one line down the starboard side that included the engine hatch and the two deck hatches on the starboard side. Then I crossed it over to the port side picking up the center hatch on the stern. I ran another line from the port engine hatch that included the hatch between the engines and...

Kevin, On my 83 B28, all the hatches sit in a gutter and each one has a drain hole. I took short pieces of copper tubing and flared one end and calked them in the holes then attached clear tubing to the other ends and channeled all the water into a a shower sump back by the port rudder shelf. My des...

I had the same thing happening on my B28. The former owner had put in new packing, but failed to use the locking nut. I took it all apart and cleaned and polished the shafts and put in the Gortex packing and after a couple of adjustments and using the locking nut, I have had nothing but bone dry sai...

We felt it in Cape Coral. It felt like someone jiggling you chair. I was on the boat acrubbing the rain stains off and washing her down after an early morning run out to the river for coffee. My step son came out of the house and down to the dock to tell me he thought I was in there tugging on the c...

Matt, Bilge cleaner is supposed to work with minor leaks and oozes from transmission and engines and also dirt from rain and just usual use. Engine cleaner is used for cleaning the buildup on your engines. I use an engine cleaner about once a month or when needed and bilge cleaner almost anytime I w...

Graqdy, I got mine that matched my 1983 B28 from http://www.minicraft.com/index.htm. They will probably send you some chips to compare.

Todd, When I lived in Alaska for thirty some years I ran a number of boats out of Katchimak Bay at Homer, Alaska and Resurrection Bay at Seward, Alaska into the Gulf of Alaska during the summer fishing for 7 species of Salmon, Snapper, Ling Cod and Halibut. Boating in the Gulf of Alaska was often ti...

Ethos FR
Harv, About 2 months ago, I got involved with this MLM that markets Ethos FR and ordered the bare minimum because I saw it as an opportunity to possibly decrease my fuel consumption in my two Merruiser Horizons. It took forever to get the 4 bottles of product, but when it came, we noticed that it wa...

Rudder Shelf
Mike,
That's what I used, but I found that there are several densities of starboard. I used a piece of 3/4 starboard that was a little heavier than some other starboard I had. I think it works great.

Fiberglass Tank
I just got an email from Danny at High Tide Marine and he says they are close to producing a 165 gal. fiberglass tank, but needs a volunteer to send him down a 190 gal tank out of a B28. I'm not quite ready yet, but if any one is near ready to tear out their older 190 gal tank, Danny would like to h...

I have a 4 battery system. Two batteries are for the port and stbd. engines and two batteries are in parallel for the house battery. All three circuits are isolated by a battery isolator and I have a battery switch for each circuit. If the port battery dies while out 50 miles, I can switch to both a...

Bertram Logo in Stainless Steel
I know everyone that views this site has at one time or another done a major upgrade to their great Bertram boat. So, I'm wondering if anyone has a pair of Bertram logos' in cast stainless steel that they have not used. I think they are about 2 inches high and about 15 inches long. I'd be happy to t...
