In Response To: tank dimension (wayne)

Wayne,

I've got an 83 28B with a 190 gal. tank that I'm still trying to decide what to do. I've wandered all over the place between cutting the top off and layering the inside with vinyl ester resin, glass and finally a couple of coats of vinyl ester gel coat. I've also talked to Nautica Welding across the state from me and got a ball park figure of $1100.00 for a stainless tank. I guess I'm hesitating on the latter because since the FG tank is glassed in the boat, one would have to build a tank cradle that he could foam in the tank and I have not figured that out or found any definitive plans to do so on the 28.

I don't even know what to expect when trying to take the top off except for what Rawley found cutting one that he has. And if that was a 31 tank, it could be a lot different than a 28 or they could have been making them different in the 80's.

So far, my deck is still on waiting for me to remove 35 screws and pull it and I am still pushing along becasue I think we have a little time yet in Florida.

I hope we can all get some resolve in this tank thing. I'd like to pump the ethanol some where that the sun doesn't shine on one of these hot oil CEO's.

Dick
