I would not put a drain in the tank, you do not want to comprimise the bottom of a tank gasoline tank. I agree with Coast Guard safety regs here.
Curious, if we know the tanks are being eaten by the fuel, why would one bother to clean their tanks now, the fuel will do an ecellenent job of that just before it starts cleaning the resin out of the fiberglass. The Tar and Varnish can at least be filtered out.
I just pulled some fuel from my tank yesturday, a tank that was cleaned and lots of Startron was added thru the season. Fuel came out with that brownish murky color I had last year before cleaning the tank. Fuel was taken a day or two prior to hauling for winter.
Guess I am one of those affected by the cost of fuel. Saturday I used to go fishing, I'd burn 80-140 gallons if going offshore. Saturday night cruise over to a Dock-n-Dine another 20-40 gallons. Sunday a bit of bottom fishing with the family and wind up at the beach, maybe a Dock-n-Dine if heading home early, another 50-80 gallons. 200 gallons for a weekends fuel is getting pricey for me, then you have the weeknight local fishing trips and little runs with family and friends.
