With Striped Bass in NY you're only allowed one keeper recreationally or 2 on a paid charter. With Fluke (Summer Flounder) they're threatening to raise the size to 18" and cut the limit to 4. If they do, it sure as hell will kill a place like Montauk. Would you drive 120 miles and pay $500+ to go out once for that? Tuna and shark offshore with an allowance of one with those fuel prices is a real luxury. Wonder what it will do to the price of fish commercially. If the market doesn't pay more for the fish, it either wont pay for the guys to go out, or they'll stay inshore and really strip our local waters. Ugh! Thank you Ethanol! Walter
PS: Rhode Island, Connecticut and New Jersey boats with more liberal allowances can fish those same waters and do. Makes no sense to me. There should be regional rules for adjacent waters rather than state ones IF you're really worried about conserving and rebuilding the fish stocks.
