Diesel Repower and Fuel Tank Replacement

We are in the process of repowering from gas to diesel. The boat has not been used with the new engines and we are still in the restoration process. Given all these ethanol problems in the NE, we are concerned about using the old fuel tank. Any thoughts on whether or not it would be a good idea to replace the tank at this point? We don't need the added expense but certainly would not want to harm the motors. The boat probably has not had any fuel in it for almost two years but it was a gas boat. Would aluminum be the best option for a diesel fuel tank?
