I am sure you have Tar and Varnish on the tank innards, that can be cleaned and filtered before reaching the motors. If you want to do it with addatives Startron is supposed to work well.
Or when you start using ethanol fuel it will clean the tank all by itself, again I would think the filter may be able to catch the Tar, Varnish and sediment that comes along with it. Frequent changing of filters is a must as carring spares.
Now if your tank is affected by the ethanol the tank itself will dissolve into solution and cannot be filtered out. Not even by 2 Stage 1 Micron Tar and Varnish removing filters. This is experience talking.
Symptoms, hard starting, backfiring, loss of RPMs and a drastic use of fuel.
