Question for the ethanol affected

Was the engine damage caused by deposits on the valve stems binding in the guides or was it deposits on the valve seats that "glued" the intake valves to their seats? Also, was it just the valves that were closed at the time the engine was shut off that were stuck? If it is valve seats gluing the valves shut, I wonder if "pickling" the engine with CX at shut down would keep the sticking from occurring even if the deposits are present? Hell, it works for everything else, why not this? I need to get another season out of my gassers. Rawleigh
