Charlie,
You are right on the money regarding ethanol in concentrations below 10%. Everything I have found and read says that in lower concentrations the gasahol is compatible with all existing fuel systems, including fiberglass in-ground storage tanks put in service as early as the 60's.
The part that is troubling is that this stuff is persnickity about the way it is distrubuted, stored, and delivered further up the food chain than just in our individual fuel tanks in our beloved Berts.
Water is one particularly nasty problem since a little too much water in your fuel can result in a puddle of ethanol in the bottom of your tank (or your marina's storage tank)that is above 20%. And in concentrations above 20% ethanol seems to be incompatible with a lot of materials one finds in a typical fuel system.
