Carl,Even with an aluminum tank, you will have to line both the inside and the outside of the tanks. This in and of itself could lead to it being as expensive as buying a new fiberglass tank outright. During my discussion with Tom Martin, he said that the impregnated vinylester gelcoat could be used on the aluminum tanks both inside and out.

click on the products box and look for the link to marine flake barrier coat 555. That is the product Tom is reffering to.
I also found another product, the link is below, that could be used to line an aluminum tank. I had contacted these people and found that the process is to build the tank and then add this product. Then the tank needs to be "rolled" in order for the product to spread through the whole tank.
