Well, Harv, after our promising chat yesterday, that puts us right back to "go".
To recap for you and all....I spoke with Richard Kidd yesterday about his making new tanks. He said he's waiting for confirmation that he can access a grade of vinylester that can handle E85. Also hopes to get a tank out of a hurricane-destroyed B28 in Alabama to use for the mold...although we didn't conclude as to how he would handle the progressively larger sizes that came in the 28 over the years. He's very confident there's gonna be a big market for this. If he goes ahead, he'll build for 31's and 28's......said there's a lot more gas 28's out there. Question is....will we have a season this year even if he goes ahead? Hard to imagine.
Also spoke with Tom Martin yesterday about re-lining. He sounds very confident and experienced, but we'll need to talk to him about the points you/Patrick made above. Can you call him, Harv? If there are doubts springing up in his marketplace, he should be made aware. I think he's got at least 6-8 of us waiting in the wings. He's going to the Coast Guard to seek approval for his method. He's got a B25, so he plans on doing his own, too.
UV....you are the voice of reason, as always. In fact, my tank was thoroughly cleaned the year before I got the boat 2 years ago. I still use the guy that did it as my mechanic....he's great....I bring him down to Jersey from Connecticut and trust him completely. He assures me the inside of the tank is/was spotless. So....if you're right about the gunk, I may not have a problem. The only problem is, we risk ruined or expensive-fix engines in order to find out. G-d damn mess.
Bill G....any thoughts?
