Potential ethanol fix

Okay, keep in mind I am an accountant and I know NOTHING about chemistry or how this problem should be fixed.
However, my fishing buddy is a fiberglass guy and he spoke this morning with his supplier, Peter Legnos of LBI in Groton, CT., and Peter Legnos has heard of the problem and has two fixes. Keep in mind this is his business and he is well known for his expertise in resins, boatbuilding, etc.
He said the best, and probably cheapest fix, is to cut off the top of the tank. Clean out all the sludge and residue using acetone. Grind into the glass until you get to clean glass.
Now comes the good part -- you have a choice of two products -- one, vinylester gelcoat can be applied (he recommends cutting it 50% so it will get right into the old fiberglass, or, two, vinylester barrier coat the inside of the tank. The vinylester barrier coat has a special flake in it that will make the tank impervious to ANY chemical intrustion. He said not to use expoxy barrier coat, only the vinylester.
This is how he builds EVERY fiberglass tank he makes. His customers include the US Coast Guard and US Navy.
His website is:

Tell him Tom Martin said he had the fix, maybe he can cut a discount to all the B31 guys. I suggest you call and ask for Peter Legnos and have him explain the fix to you. He ships his materials all over the country.
Now for the disclaimer -- I have no financial interest in LBI, neither does my fishing buddy Tom Martin.
I hope this helps.
Tom
