Not only is ETOH here to stay; but it is an improtant part of our decreased dependence on foreign oil. I have noticed lots of TV ads here in NJ for E85, a gasoline ETOH blend. We found back in the 70's ETOH corrodes aluminum. I love that term "etches" aluminum. No it corrodes aluminum at an alarming rate. ETOH also absorbes water (H2O) at an alarming rate. The mixture will absorb water out of the air, not condensation, but right out of the air, until the mixture phase seperates. Water/ETOH on the bottom gasoline on the top. Not a real problem in a car because you have to fill the "Steel" gas tank all the time. One more thing, a pound, gallon, what ever unit of measure you want to use, ETOH does not have the "bang" a pound of gasoline has. This means your mpg will suffer in a direct porportion to the % of ETOH in the mixture. So Harv your range now gets directly effected by the % of ETOH in the fuel. Once again not a big deal for cars.
Oh one more thing. Wether or not E85 comes to your state will not be won by a class action suit or for that matter any type of lawsiut. If the Federal funding is provided to build the ETOH plants and the cost of gasoline continues to increase ETOH will be at your gas pumps sooner as opposed to later. ETOH gas has been a big deal in the Mid-West since the 70's. Now it is caming to your state.
I think it is about time. Now I want some Bio-diesel for my Cats to eat. I think a boat smelling like a french fry machine is kind of cool. But how does frenck fry machine smell and bunker mix? You know there is nothing like the smell of diesel and bunkers in the morning.
