Several people in the industry have lead me away from SS tanks. Problems with weld fatigue is the reason given.

I also have to say that being in the Marine Industry I have seen many SS fuel tanks in boats. From small racing boats to a 92' sportfish with a pair of 4000 gallon SS tanks. I do not recall ever hearing about a problem with them. Aluminum on the other hand, have helped two friends replace theirs.
