I had a problem with bad it gas brown cloud and had "coffee grounds" suspened in my 25 Bertram. Carbs had to totally rebuilt. I had the old gas pumped out we added some clean gas and pumped it out. So far I have had no further problems determined by checking the filters. Years ago I had a custom glass tank built around the console of Boston Whaler. Never had a problem with black or brown (coffee grounds)crud. However this was this was before the use of ethanol. Everyone is talking about replacing the tanks completely. For one thing the gas tanks are an integral part of the classic Bertram. Besides these tanks may be up to 30 or 45 years old. I know that I am not the same person I was 40 years ago. We barrier coat the bottom of hulls. Would it not be more cost effective if there is a severe problem to open the tanks clean them then barrier coat the interior possibly with an epoxy. I am not sure if epoxy is alcohol resistant. Just throwing out an idea for discussion.
