http://www.ethanol.org/e85storage.htmlAnd others related to it. Look at the third paragraph carefully. My own, personal opinion is that this is your problem and not the ethanol on it's own. Again, my own opinion, is that the problem is the water that has been present in these tanks for 30, 40, or more years. The ethanol just releases all that built up sludge.
If I still had gas motors I would do a thorough cleaning of the tank, and that may not be easy, before I got rid of that beautifull fiberglass tank installed by Bertram.
Remeber, it is water that penitrates our polyester hulls and forms blisters.
