Tony- In years past, ethanol was introduced to the fuel only in the winter months. By that time we were shrink wrapped with full tanks of 100% gasoline. The problems started after ethanol was introduced 12 months of the year. I suspect the process works slowly in your tanks as many of us have been using it for over a year before problems started showing up. Many of us blamed other things...time for a carburetor rebuilding...engine must be getting tired...can't get full rpm's, etc. It seems to be showing up more for us in NY every year and I'm betting Spring/Summer 2006 is going to have many more cases after cooking in our tanks for the third consecutive winter.
