Jim,
You know what works is up in the air. I have been doing a bunch of things and as one seems to help I stick with it. I'm positive that is not the best way to fix a problem, but I'm not a patient person latelyI topped off the tank in Jersey, that fuel is not supposed to have Ethanol. Maybe better. I fog engines after every trip with Amsoil's PowerFoam, stopped the valves from hanging up and bending Pushrods after sitting a few days. Maybe better.
The last thing I have tried is the Techtron. I added several bottles of the stuff to a slightly higher then the recccomended dosage. I have run about 70 gallons of that mixture thru the engine and now I am pretty close to getting the correct WOT, now I turn 4000 on each engine. In the beginning of the season I was able to get about 3600 and 3800 plus I came back with bent rods.
What worked or works, don't know. But Fuel without the Ethanol, Fogging with Powerfoam and Techtron seemed to give me some headway. I planned on doing another tankfull, but then the BoatUS thing came up and now I'm sort of leary about filling tank up again. Plus I had intentions of empting tank and cleaning again this winter, but now maybe a new crappy alum tank is the way to go.
Wish we had some definites and just get over it. I already gave this info to BoatUS. Wish they would keep us updated on the results of their testing.
