As I posted previously, ethanol wil not react with the polyester resins used to manufacture fiberglass boats and tanks. It will not react with cured epoxy either. It will not break down or penetrate your tank. If you find "sludge" on the outside of the tank, it is probably from a leaking gasket at the fill or pick up.
Your problem is exactly the same many of us had when ethanol was introduced into our fuel. You have a 30 year old tank with thick deposits on the inside. The ethanol is a solvent to these deposits and when dissolved, will form a thick sludge. I cleaned my tank and the problem disappeared. No need to replace a fiberglasss tank which will last as long as the boat.
Check your hoses as some older ones may not be alcohol resistant.
