The 6V53, or oil, slingin' dump truck motor, was originally sold to the government as a multifuel engine with a compression ratio of 23, up from 18 for the standard diesel version. No.2 diesel, JP4, CIE and Combat gasoline all ran equally well. The rack was set to the smoke limit for diesel fuel, with the corresponding loss in power for all the other fuels.
