I haven't been here in quite awhile as boating has not been pleasurable this year, pretty much since the boat hasn't been running.
Since I got fuel in the beginning of this season I have been having problems. When I pulled the heads off the engines I found them all cruded up a thick black goo. The carbs and intakes, all covered with this crud. Now that I have put everything back together, the engine still runs like &^%* and won't get up on plane without bending a pushrod or two. When I got back to the dock and pull the plugs they are all covered with a thick black goo.
Funny this should be the first post when I logged on.
I was blaming on bad gas and want to have checked, anybody know where?
Actually from reading this maybe it's my tank. The lines are all copper up the the flowmeters and new fuel lines the rest of the way. The fill hose is original as far as I know, but that shouldn't be a problem, or is it?
I have a true Vintage 31 weighing in at 1962, built 12-1-61, or so the tag says.
Anyway I would love to hear any further insight as to what might be the cause. I am running out of time this season. Now my only hope is to be able to take my boat around the marina and into the well under my own power, then get hauled.
To clean the tank, how does it come out? What to do with all the fuel.
