I have the 4bta Cummins in my 28. I'm able to cruise at 25+ kts with a full load, and still get close to 1.5 mpg. The installation was more complicated than it would have been for Yanmars and I have had problems with the injectors. I haven't had the problem with the tips, but the injectors were bad. Cummins is great about standing behind their product. This summer I had 1 go bad, and because there were prior problems, they replaced all the injectors on both engines at no change, even though the warantee was expired.
If I were to do it again, I wouldn't hesitate to go with Cummins.
