Hauling at Cracker Boy Boat Works, Riviera Beach, FL 01/17/02

January 17, 2002 - Papers are finalized, a 2 hour run down the beach to Riviera Beach, FL, and a 14:00 haul at Cracker Boy Boat Works...

You Guys know the drill... Click an image for a big one

January 21, 2002 - Cockpit deck removed, side panels out, engine boxes off, engines disconnected and ready to be removed - 4 1/2 hours. Bottom grinding begins, full blister job, will have two coats of epoxy barrier, & two coats of antifouling paint. ETA February 25th.

Gonna' keep it simple for a while - Images pretty much say it all...

As you can see, there will be the usual amount of refurbishing that will need to be done, but no real red flags. The tabbing is generally in good shape and the superficial rust around the riser nipples looks far worse than it is.

Engines will come out within the next day or so and compartments get gutted and new beds put in. Notice the shabby condition of the old beds. Engines were just lag bolted into the wood and a couple of them weren't even tight. Doubt that engines were very well aligned, although the run down to Lake Worth Inlet was reasonably smooth and the boat cruised out at 25 kts, (GPS), against a 2 kt head current and at 3,300 RPM, (just before the secondary barrels kick in).

Mo' Later - Stay tuned!

Best regards,

Patrick
